World Series Final Game Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series averaged 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different tongues.
